Sad news

Actor Richard Gilliland, who portrayed Jonesy, the second husband of Mary Ellen in The Waltons, passed away on March 18, 2021 after a short serious illness at the age of only 71.

Richard Gilliland was born on January 23, 1950 in Forth Worth, Texas. His acting career began in 1974 and included more than 90 television and film productions until his death. Many fans will be familiar with him from guest appearances in such series as The Streets of San Francisco, Murder She Wrote, Matlock, Dexter, Criminal Minds and many more, in addition to The Waltons.

Richard Gilliland was married to actress Jean Smart since 1987. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, a son and a daughter.
